WebDAV setup

Before you begin

It's essential that you have the following information to hand:

  • Your webDAV username.
  • Your assigned account password.

If you don't know all of this information, then speak to someone in your organization who will be able to advise you. Failing that, speak to us.

Remember - you will be substituting your domain name for those used in the examples below.

OS X

For OS X, the configuration is very simple. In the Finder, open up the Connect to Server menu item from the "Go" menu and type in the webdav address, which is going to be something like:

http://webdav.yourdomain.tld

You can press the '+' to save this address for later. Press "Connect" and then enter your username and password. If you check the box next to "Remember this password in my keychain" the password will be stored in an encrypted keychain on your computer and you won't need to enter the password again.

Windows XP

With Windows you have two choices on how to proceed:

My Network Places

  1. Open up "My Network Places", and click on "Add Network Place" at the top of the left sidebar.
  2. A Wizard window will open, click "Next".
  3. Enter the WebDAV address

The "/#" in the address is absolutely critical for Windows XP to mount the webdav correctly. it simply will not work without it. Click "Next".
  4. Enter username and password and click OK.
  5. Enter a name for this share—this is the name that will show up in the "My Network Places"
  6. Click Finish on the next page, and you're done!

Map Network Drive

  1. Open a windows Explore window and chose "Map Network Drive" from the "Folder" menu, or right-click on "My Computer" and choose the same option.
  2. Enter the WebDAV address

    http://webdave.yourdomain.tld/#

The "/#" in the address is absolutely critical for Windows XP to mount the webdav correctly. it simply will not work without it. Click "Finish".
  3. Enter username and password and click OK.
