All email addresses hosted at covisp.net can use address extensions. Address extensions allow you to very quickly and easily create a ‘new’ email address on-the-fly,, and allow your incoming email to be sorted into mailboxes automatically.

Let’s assume your email address is ’sales@example.com’ and you tell someone to send you email at sales+mike@example.com; that mail will automatically be placed in a mailbox named ‘mike’ for you, presorted. Since some Websites are broken and don’t allow the ‘+’ character, you can also use the ‘_’ (that’s underscore, not dash) to designate an address extension.

If you are ordering something from a company named acme, you can give them your email address as user+acme@example.com and all their correspondence will show up in a mailbox named ‘acme’. You can use as many of these extensions as you wish; so you could use a custom extension for each client, friend, or family member. You could even use a customer number as an extension for each customer.
